You are hitting the "feature" number 3143531. See Metalink
note:3143531.8. According to that note, the solution is
simple: install the patchset 220.127.116.11 which will, according to
the tech. support, be available in "late October, early November".
Another Oracle person who I occasionally exchange emails with
shrewdly observed that they didn't specify the year.
Few weeks ago, I was blowing steam when I was told that my
problem at the time will ultimately be fixed in 18.104.22.168. and the =20
patchset was nowhere in sight.
